After seeing both the 190SL and 300SL convertibles back-to-back (no, not in person), I can't say for sure that I'd take the 300 over the 190.

I've had both in the shop. The key difference is that the 190 drives like a slow, boring truck, and the 300 is a magical, tube-frame unicorn. The upside is that the 190 is easy to work on & comparatively cheap to run. 300s are worth a million now, so 190s have naturally been on the upswing, but I can't believe the money they're getting considering how crummy they are to drive. A good 356C or Alfa feels worlds better. For most buyers' purposes though, cruising with the top down in a 190 will be just fine.

Having driven both in real life, this is the correct conclusion. I would rather the gullwing with gull wings, though.

Taken at work. There's a Lamborghini LM002 behind it. I kind of want to write an Oppo review of driving it but don't have very many pictures. Hopefully it comes back to the shop at the same time I'm home from school.

op you need to educate yourself. Someone would probably ban you from goodwood etc if they heard this non sense. I suggest seeing 300 in person

I have. I still prefer it, but not by as much as I think I should.

Seconded. I still quite like the 190 though. It's a wonderful cream puff of a cruiser. Just sit back and enjoy the comfort of the awesome.

Ok to be fair I really like some 190's as well, because they look like a cheaper 300. I love the hardtops+ the painted wheels and big interiors. But the 190 totally lacks the amazingness of the side fender work of the 300 as well as the super nice rear end shape. Sadly these fuckers have gone from 30's to 80's+ and for that price I have it on good authority they are not worth it as a driver. I will say I have seen some great 190's and I will try to upload some pics of one for you from Monterey Historics this past August. My uncle actually has a Gullwing but I've only ever sat in it as he doesn't know how to properly care / drive a car and is a greedster. If my father (who picked it out for him and helped him get a car in the early 80's he thought would rise) owned it you can believe we would have spent a lot of our lives enjoying that car together. Anywhoo sorry for being a wank earlier, you are right the 190 does deserve some respect.

NP and I'd love to see some pics of both those cars if you have them.
